Oh, my way sure ain’t appeased the Good Lord, so I been pacified in purgatory grind
We know a good thing can be overpowered, if we don’t see when to draw the line
Sure hope this ember won’t be soured, and let it grow into a glow that spreads & shines

If a good man can waste the best years of his life
Just biding on his time, no reason or rhyme
Once he listens and believes he can relieve the burden left
Then there just might be some tunes left for the deaf

If there’s a rough start on a bright path, the wind will swiftly cast unworthy ones aside
But if a man can find a way, instead of pinin’ on yesterday,
